Figurative Landscape Ribbon Series, red, yellow, blue Scottland Landscape Study III Scottland Landscape Study II
The creation of visual symbols is my primary language. These visual ideas are expressed in paintings, using a variety of media.

The use of the figure and natural forms, abstracted to their essence, are arranged to speak directly to the viewer's emotions. Color, texture and line are the primary carriers of the form. The content of my paintings are drawn from life experiences and spiritual reflection. The final work is to be read by the heart as well as the mind.

Bonnie Lou Prouty, Facets, paintings 1970-2011, Corpus Christi Art Center, Corpus Christi, TX, March 4 - 31, 2011

The exhibition, "Facets" is a collection of works from my major painting periods. The exuberant and expressionistic imagery of dinosaurs and fossils are the subject matter of the earliest paintings. A more mature, "Rainbow Figure Series" uses the figure as a symbol to express the stages and development of my personal life. My travels to Scotland have lead to the Scottish castle series. In the new medium of layered acrylics with its vibrant colors and textures, the images are abstracted and contain content of a spiritual nature.
